So, what exactly is Income school’s Project 24? Jim Harmer & Ricky Kesler (co-founders) at Income School have created an ever-expanding multi-focused series of courses to help you build a largely passive income stream in 24 months. The primary method to do this is through blogging, however creating a Youtube video and podcasting are also covered.
I am a member of this fantastic and elite group of entrepreneurs and I really have never experienced anything like this sort of success in internet marketing before. I have been in the game for nearly 5 years to date and never gained any organic traffic until now. It’s truly remarkable.

Who are ‘Income School’?
Income school was founded by Jim Harmer of improvephotography.com fame & his childhood buddy Ricky Kesler who has a business background. Both men are Idaho natives and this really comes through in their approach. It’s a breath of fresh air in the internet marketing field, to be honest. They also have a dedicated team of whom Freddy, Carissa, and more recently, Nathan are the most involved with the students on the course.
The team has built a multitude of websites based around various niches, particularly involving outdoor pursuits and has gained 90 million-plus pageview over the last few years. This experience has made them uniquely qualified to teach how to achieve a similar feat in organic traffic for your own website.
The other very rare thing about Jim & Ricky is that they are willing to share not only the lessons they have learned but the very domain names they are using to achieve all their success. This is almost unheard of in the internet marketing field where many of the top ‘gurus’ are very secretive and never reveal their own sites and the actual day to day activities.
Why do they risk it all to help others? Well, as they have said numerous times, Jim & Ricky know that the internet is a huge space and that there is plenty of opportunities for everyone. So, this is why they have no qualms about sharing what they have learned through trial and error. It is truly a unique and very useful service that they provide.
Key concepts
You’ll never see any of the Income School team sporting a hat of any kind. Neither Black nor White. What you learn from other ‘gurus’ in the internet marketing industry is very different from what you’ll learn from Jim & Ricky. In fact, many of the practices which are sold for a huge fee are entirely ignored and even ridiculed by the boys from Boise!
Perhaps the statement which is most controversial for Jim & Ricky is that ‘keyword tools suck’. It’s something which they have said for a long time and even today people don’t seem to listen. Keyword tools are often pushed by other ‘gurus’ as they have very high affiliate commissions, but the boys are clearly shown that they do not work accurately. Ultimately the only people who know the true volume of traffic for a given query are Google, and they ain’t sharing that information with us!
Instead, in Project 24 you are taught how to find keywords manually (and more accurately) and how to select only the queries which logically will bring in high traffic volume. When you learn how to do it properly, you’ll be left wondering why you ever threw away so much money on pointless keyword tool for a blog based website!
Overall, the main focus of the course, which is championed by the ’60 steps’ course enabling you to kickstart a website on any niche so that it will start generating organic traffic, is to be useful. It’s really that simple, but it takes some learning on how to achieve it.
Jim & Ricky are very clear that in order to generate the level of organic traffic you need in order to create a real passive stream of income you need to work with Google and not against it. By this, they mean that you need to be compliant with their guidelines. Many other gurus only think in the short term and by focusing on the wrong things, their students seem short term success. By following the Project 24 method, you can really build a website that will work on autopilot to bring you traffic which can then be monetized.
Another thing that really sets Jim & Ricky apart is the fact that they don’t endorse backlinking. This is the most written about activity in internet marketing and the average newbie marketer is told to dedicate upwards of 80% of their time to this pursuit.
If you are unfamiliar with this concept, backlinks are supposed to be links to your content from other websites because the resource you provided was both accurate, unique and helpful. Seeking out backlinks as is taught by many others in the internet marketing space is borderline ‘illegal’ in the eyes of Google and is really gaming the algorithm. Whenever you do something which Google expressly discourages, you will soon wake up with a huge hit to your traffic.
Jim & Ricky do not underestimate the importance of backlinking in the ranking of their posts, but they know that by producing excellent and unique content that they will organically gain backlinks which are more genuine and therefore more longlasting for their business. So, what do you do with all that time you save in creating bogus backlinks? Well, create more content of course which will bring you more traffic!
Income School on YouTube
The other truly amazing thing about this team of internet marketing legends is how much valuable content they put out on YouTube every single week. While it is true that we get a lot more in-depth knowledge and a series of nearly 20 (it’ll be more soon) courses to help us on our journey through Project 24 membership, a highly motivated person could learn a lot just from watching the YouTube channel.
However, the problem is that things move quickly in internet marketing and there are many things which have changed in the courses since I joined, which was less than half a year ago at the time fo writing this. So, relying on old videos on YouTube which can’t be updated could lead you astray!
Project 24
Project 24 currently has 15 dedicated courses to various areas of building your passive income business as well as access to a weekly podcast, vlog, a license for one of the fastest WordPress themes around called Acabado, and various useful files, tools, and discounts on other external services. What’s more, the course is always expanding.
In fact, next week there will be a brand-new course on the impact of the Google update concerning EAT (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness). This will be the latest course of at least 4 in the last 2 months, 2 of which being total revamps of old and outdated material (which itself was only months old). In short, you may pay a fixed fee per year but you aren’t given a static course to follow!

Perhaps the most useful for the day to day running of your website and business is the forum-based community aspect of Project 24 membership. If you are ever stuck on a problem or haven’t quite understood something in one of the courses or even heard something different on a recent YouTube video or podcast, this is where you can find your answer. The other Project 24 members are not only knowledgable but also very helpful. What’s more, you’ll be getting advice from others who have followed the same course and already seen success.
But it’s not only for us members, you’ll have direct interaction with Jim & Ricky as well as the rest of the team who are always on hand to give you clear advice and steer you in the right direction. Many disasters have been avoided because of the community in Project 24. It really makes developing a passive income stream a reality for even complete beginners in the internet marketing space. So, if you are worred you don’t have the skills to succeed, then this is your godsend!
How much does it cost?
At the moment of writing this, Project 24 will set you back only $449, which is remarkably cheap for what you get. I know of other internet programs which are 3 times the price and are basically set up to help the owner generate more money from you. This isn’t the case.
However, only the first year costs you $449, the subsequent yearly membership is only $199 which is a real steal considering the fact that you get access to the Acabado WordPress theme, all the developing courses, and community forum.
What’s more, for that small price you get a heck load of content and it’s only the equivalent of just under $40 per month. Quit the gym and do this instead, it’s an easy choice!
Future development
As I have said before, Project 24 is not a stale or outdated course which some ‘guru’ is trying to palm off on you to make a quick buck. It is constantly being developed, improved and updated.
Jim & Ricky have said numerous times that they are always testing new techniques as well as the changes in Google so that we aren’t walking into a storm blindly.
Over the past year, the lads have poured a lot of time and money into their own writing studio which helped them produce several new and content-heavy sites. The lessons they learned and the results are always shared with the Project 24 students and the approach they suggest we take is adjusted to what is working right now.
Most ‘gurus’ will teach you what worked for them 10 years ago, and they don’t know the current techniques because they are just living off of their teaching income. Jim & Ricky start a new site every couple of months to keep their hand in and also to test what is still working and what needs to be changed.
I’d challenge you to find any other course or business out there which is similar in the internet marketing industry. So, even though you have to pay a fairly big sum of money to join the course, it’s more of an investment than a fee!
Why it might not work for you
The Income School approach isn’t the answer for everyone and it’s not going to be a business plan to suit all needs. However, when followed to the letter, it can truly kickstart an entirely different phase of your life!
If you are trying to build traffic for an e-commerce site built on a platform like Shopify, then this probably isn’t the course for you. Also, if you are just interested in building a website for your local business, then you may find that this course is a little bit of overkill for your needs. In the same way, if you just want to drive traffic to an affiliate link, then you may not want to take the niche blogging route.
How much work does it take?
There is no getting away from it, following the Project 24 system involves one of two things (or both) time and money to invest. Although you don’t have to pay Income School anything more than your initial year’s fee and an annual subscription for any subsequent year you want to stay a member, there are some other costs.
Hosting and a domain typically cost between $60 and $100 depending on the service you go for. I highly recommend Bluehost and have found their customer service to be very helpful and their platform extremely easy to use. The main cost and this depends on you, is going to be outsourcing content. Although it’s highly recommended that you write the initial 30 posts in the Project 24 course by yourself to understand the process better, you will probably want to outsource at least some of the writing.
Just remember that the aim for even the shortest post is to get on average 1000 page views a month. If we consider that ad revenue (which is highly advisable to put on your website) typically gives you a monthly payout of $5-30 per month. Paying $60 upfront for a post will pay itself off in only a few short months.
In terms of how much work it actually takes you, setting up the websites and maintaining it can be done in a matter of minutes rather than hours. The real demand for your time will be search analysis where you select which queries you will write your posts to answer and the time it takes to write those posts.
You can certainly do this part-time, but it’s just going to take you longer to do it than if you were able to dedicate more time. However, let me say that when you put in the work the rewards are going to be well worth the sacrifice.
Writing a Project 24 style post should take you anywhere form a minimum of 2 hours for a shorter post and 8 hours for the meatier Pillar posts. This time is needed to produce the best possible content that you can which will beat out the competition. This is how Jim & Ricky have been able to generate thousands of dollars a month through their niche websites.
So, yes, even passive income involves work to set it up, but once you have done that, the money could be rolling in for years to come!
