Hey, as you probably know most of my time is spent on the YouTube channel which accompanies this website, so my recommended gear is all of the equipment I use.

Audio recorder
I think that purchasing this audio recorder, the Tascam DR-05x has really upped my game. Now I can record my audio and video separately, so you don’t get any of that wind noise and you can use even a basic cell phone without having to be really close to its microphone.

Tripod

This was my most important purchase as some of my earlier videos really suffered from poor sound quality, especially when I was outside and trying to make some interesting videos.
