Project 24 Case Study: Month 3

Youtube video transcript

Hi, welcome to my channel. My name’s Phil. I am the income school student today. I’m gonna give you an update about my website after three months. I started this website back in May, and today I’m gonna give you full access to my Google analytics, to my YouTube channel. And also I’m going to be giving you some idea of how much content I have on the website at the moment, and exactly how much time it took me to create that.

Also, I’m gonna be answering a question directly from one of my viewers and trying to give them a bit of advice because they’re not doing so well at the moment. I also wanna make it very clear that with this Project 24 website, I have not paid for any traffic. It’s all 100% free organic traffic, but as of yet, I’ve made no revenue.

So don’t forget to subscribe to the channel so you can get some more videos like this and stick around to find out how I’m getting on and why. I think I’m making a lot of progress. So just in case, this is the first time that you’re watching my channel. So my name’s Phil and I am actually a current project, 24 members.

And that’s Project 24. That’s brought to you by Jim and Ricky from income school. So today what I want to do is to show you some of the stats I have for my website, which I started. May 2019. So that’s about three months ago at the time of filming. So the real reason why I want to show you some stats is because I got a comment from a guy called Michael Beluga on this channel.

So thanks for watching Michael. And I was just a little bit concerned with your comment because I thought it sounds like you’re giving up already and I just don’t think that should be the case. And hopefully by showing you some stats, you might give a little bit more thought to your website and hopefully make it a success.

So Michael said not a student, but I did create a website and added 30 articles. 12 months later, no visitors from Google. A hundred. Monthly visitors. I just don’t see this tactic working, not when people are building sites of less content, but ranking them with black hat tactics in three months.

And Michael makes an excellent. . So for me, the main thing about Project 24 is that we’re trying to build websites that are mainly built around organic traffic. So for my website, with Project 24, I haven’t spent a penny on any paid traffic. Whereas in the past for our websites, I spent a lot of money. On pay traffic on solo ads and things like that.

And to be honest, it didn’t really get me very far so I can understand why Michael calls losing heart a little bit, but I still have a lot of faith in this system. And I think I’m starting to see some real indications that it’s working for me. So I just wonder if Michael had gone down the Project 24 route, if he would have a little bit more success.

So let’s get into those stats and see why I feel fairly confident about my Project 24 website and why I’m considering even starting another two or three using exactly the same techniques that Jim and Ricky have taught me. So I just wanna talk a little bit about the content on the website. So as you can see, there are currently 42 posts on my website at the moment.

And if we break that down, that is broken down into 10 pillow posts, 10 staple posts, and actually 22 response posts at the moment. And if we talk about that in terms of how long it’s taking me to do that. So Jim and Ricky estimate that the average response post should take about two hours to write.

So that’s including about half an hour of research before you start writing. And then about an hour and a half of actually. Sometimes I’ve written it in less time and sometimes I’ve written it and it’s taken a lot longer. A staple post should take about four hours, including research and a good pillar post we’re looking at about eight hours.

So it really depends on the writer, but based on these measurements. I’ve put in at least 164 hours of work to create those 42 pieces of content. So that works out about 20 and a half, eight hour days. So you can see, it takes a lot of work to do that, but each one of those hours is gonna be repaid not just by a salary, but it’s going to be continuously repaid over time.

So putting in 164 hours now is going to give me a lot of return on my investment in the future. Now I’m not even mentioning the videos. Each video that I put up is somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes long. So each of those videos can take up to an hour, two hours to edit depending on how many mistakes.

And particularly for the niche that I’m in, I’m definitely suffering from what’s known as imposter syndrome. I feel that I don’t have enough knowledge right now, so it takes a lot longer to get the message across. And so there’s a lot of time that’s been put into this website, but also I could say a lot of love.

If you like what you’ve heard so far, and you are interested in doing the same thing, then head over to my website at income school, student.com/Project 24. Alternatively, have a look at this YouTube video by typing this into YouTube search and watching a webinar that I created on these 60 steps and my progress in Project 24.

Okay. This is Google analytics for me. Current Project 24 website. And this has totally just happened. And you can see I’ve actually got someone on my website now. This isn’t me. I’m not logged into the website. In fact all of my IPS that I use are actually blocked by Google analytics for the site.

So I have actually got someone on the website at the moment. That’s pretty exciting. For most of us we build these websites and we see no traffic. So I’m pretty happy. And it’s a bit of coincidence, so that’s pretty cool. Gives me a bit more confidence. Okay. So what I will be doing is I will be blurring out a few more sensitive details from my website.

I don’t wanna share exactly what the domain is. I don’t really wanna share what the niche is. Part of that is yes, the fear that Selma’s gonna steal my idea and do it better, but also I wanna see this grow organically. I don’t want to have any extra bump or any other traffic that isn’t targeted to the niche.

So that’s why I’ll be blowing after you things, but I’m gonna share as much detail as I can with you just so you get an. What it’s like to build a Project 24 website as a real member. Okay. Let’s just look through some of the numbers that we’ve got here. This is just the basic home screen of Google analytics that gives you some basic information.

So I’ve set it to 90 days. I’m three months into my website. So this gives you all the details. So it says I’ve had 401 users in those three. 428 sessions and I’ve got a bounce rate of 84.8 to one. And the sessions only lasted 20 seconds. Okay. I’m not too worried about that. For a brand new website, it might look quite impressive that I’ve got 401 users, maybe it doesn’t to you, but to be honest, a lot of that is actually going to be direct traffic and it’s gonna be bot traffic.

So I haven’t got that much organic traffic. , but it is definitely building. And you can see a real trend from when I started at the beginning of the period. So I actually started this back in may, but it seems like Google analytics was not tracking it exactly the day I started. But yeah, that trend is definitely going up and so that’s pretty.

So here we can see that actually I’ve got quite a lot of direct traffic compared to organic for these last couple of days, but that’s because I’m been writing a lot of content at the moment I’m actually doing, what’s called the content warrior challenge with Project 24, which I’ll be talking about in another video soon.

So as soon as I write the content, I actually go into Google’s search console and I get what I request that Google indexes, that page. And when you do that, it sends two or three direct Traffics as it were. Yeah the direct traffic here isn’t real traffic. It’s just coming from Google really.

But you can see that at the moment. Most of my traffic coming from the United States is not set, that’s all the Google Traffic for indexing the pages and then Taiwan. That’s me. I actually live in Taiwan but I’m pretty happy with the fact that most of the traffic comes from the United States.

That’s what I’m aiming for. Again, here’s a little bit more information. This is all to do with the audience. And as you can see over the last sort of three. I’ve had a couple spikes, but generally you can see that the traffic is slowly building. I haven’t got to that famous hockey stick period where the traffic really takes off, but that’s not due to happen for at least another three to four months.

But overall I’m getting in the last so this is the last month actually. So from August the fourth to September the fourth so 62. Searches. And as I said, that’s not me searching because I’ve taken my IP off of Google Google analytics. So that’s recording real people searching.

So I’m quite happy with that. I think that’s really positive and that’s set only to grow. Here, we’re just talking about the acquisition, so that’s. The traffic is actually coming from. And at the moment I’m getting 37.3% organic traffic in the last month. So a lot of the direct traffic is actually coming from Google when they’re indexing my site.

But again I can definitely see a trend going upwards. I actually hear between the middle of August hip, I. Big problem with my website. I actually migrated a site that I bought from flipper and it totally crashed my hosting mainly my fault, but so my websites were down for about seven days.

So that’s why the traffic dropped there, but otherwise I would’ve expected to see a fairly steady sort of growth there over that. Okay. So here, we’re looking again at the acquisition tab and Google analytics, and we’re actually looking at the landing pages that are given to us when we connect Google search console to Google analytics.

So I’m getting most of my traffic, we could say from three or four pages and actually the top page here that got let’s just check. Yeah. So this is the last three months and this has actually got 607 impressions. So that’s 17.8, 5% of all the impressions I had. And it’s actually got an average position of 11.

I know this page in particular for certain. For certain queries, it’s actually ranking third or fourth in the se. And I’ve actually won the snippet for that page in particular. And that is the second article that I wrote. And if I’m looking at the other articles that are ranking, they were written in the week or the week after the first article here that’s at the top.

What I mean by this is that I’m winning snippets and they might not be the biggest queries and they might not bring the most traffic in over time. But the fact that I’m winning the snippets I’m on page one, that’s probably a sign that Google kind of trusts my site, even for those small queries and over time that Trust’s gonna build.

And I’m hoping that I’m gonna rank for much more competitive keywords as queries. So I’ve actually looked at these average positions, but I’ve actually looked through my articles of which at the moment I’ve got 40 and at least 50% of them are ranking either on the first or second page within that three months of starting the website.

That’s really good. I haven’t done anything. I have not done anything apart from writing the content. I searched for the queries. I saw the cracks in the market. I wrote a post answering that question, all that query. And that’s it. The only promotion I’ve done really is YouTube.

I did have a Pinterest account. I got banned actually. I don’t really know what I did wrong. I basically, whenever someone Followed me. I followed them and apparently that’s not the best thing to do. So I’m gonna have to go back and restart that. But to be honest, I didn’t get much traffic from Pinterest.

Anyway, I’m gonna have to go back and review the Pinterest course that Jim and Ricky have just released so I can do that properly. So that’s with no promotion. This is purely through Google. So I think this is really positive for such a young person. It can only get better. This is a really good sign.

So yeah I feel very confident about this. If we have a quick look at my YouTube channel at the moment, this has got only 10 videos on it. And I started this sort of thing back at the end of July. So it’s only about a month.  and it’s not doing too badly. It’s not doing too well.

I’ve got a few views, fewer than a hundred, not many subscribers and not really a lot of watch time, but. I keep adding to this and, every week there’s a video that comes out. So I’m hoping over time, I’m going to get more views. I’m gonna get more subscribers and figure out exactly what I need to be doing in this niche for YouTube.

The real problem I’ve got is that within the niche there’s a lot of knowledgeable people. It involves a certain amount of knowhow and equipment. And at the moment I don’t quite have it. Knowledge or the equipment, but I’ve been buying quite a lot of things online and hopefully in the next couple months, I’m gonna be able to rival the competition and make even better videos than they do.

I wanna give a little bit of perspective about my website and how Jim and Ricky in Project 24, teach us about what to expect and how to build the website. So they give us the 24 month timeline and each month they give us a. Conservative estimate of where our website should be. Unlike a lot of people, I actually completed the initial 60 steps in only two months.

A lot of people are taking a lot longer to do that. I’m actually On schedule for this timeline. So in month three of Project 24 they assume that I’ve completed the 60 steps, which I have. This means that I’ve got 30 posts. So 10 response posts, 10 staple posts, and 10 pillar posts, as well as a YouTube channel with 10 videos.

And that’s the case. I’ve got all that done. So they predict by the end of this month that I should. 40 to 50 pieces of content. So that’s an extra 10 or 20 pieces of content on top of the initial 30 posts and 10 videos. And yeah, I’ve done that. I’ve actually got 40 or 41 posts up and I’ve got another one or two videos scheduled out on the YouTube channel.

So I’m well on track for that. And they predict by the end of the month, I should be getting 50 views. So a conservative estimate would put me at about 50 page views. If we consider users as page views in this instance, then I’ve got 143 for the last 28 days. Now I know that about 37% of that is actually real organic traffic.

The rest is just Google bots, basically. So that works out to be about 52 53 organic. So I’m gonna take that as being well on track well, on target and there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. The projections are okay, so I’m really happy with that. So overall I’m really happy that I’ve actually gone through and done this video because it’s given me a chance to really have a look at the stats.

I have to admit that I’m not an expert in Google analytics, I’m still learning. But from what I can see, there’s definitely an upward trend to the traffic. And I can see that organic traffic is slowly overtaking the direct traffic of the bots. And as you can see, I’m actually getting real time visitors.

Sure. They may be bouncing at the moment. They might not be sticking around for much, but I’m full of confidence. So if I just go back and talk to Michael Beluga again,  my advice to you would be that you need to learn a little bit more about the Project 24 system. It’s not just enough to write articles.

It’s not just enough to put content onto a website. You need to make sure that you are targeting the right kind of queries. Now, everything you know about SEO and keyword research, this might not be up to date. It might not actually be the way that things are. Things are done. And yes, it’s true that you can use black hat tactics, and you might rank in three months.

You might be on the first page in the first position, but guarantee those people. If we come back and see that site again in the year that traffic’s those posts, those websites are gonna be gone because Google is gonna catch them. Google is the biggest company in the. And they are after these people, they have said that they will not tolerate these black hat tactics.

They won’t even tolerate some of the white hat, tactics, things like building backlinks. So the only sure way is to do what Google asks you to do. And that is to write the most helpful content that will give the user the best experie. That’s what Project 24 is all about, and we are being rewarded for doing what Google is asking us to do.

I would say Michael, really go back to that website and consider how you could change your approach? Could you turn those hundred visitors per month to a hundred thousand just by making a few small but intelligent changes. So if you are interested in starting up a website that could give you a full time income and planting a seed in the ground and watching it grow over the next two years, then go over to my website income school, student.com/Project 24.
