Youtube video transcript
I think one of the things that most YouTubers will never tell you is how real life really does get in the way of making a successful YouTube channel. So this is not the video I wanted to shoot today, but is the video that we’re gonna talk about?
Hello, YouTube and hello to all my subscribers. We did make it guys. We have made this channel into a thousand subs, over a thousand subs now, and over 4,000 watch hours. I was planning to do a completely different video today, which will have to wait until next week. And it’s true. Real life. So I want to talk about a few things that I think that aren’t mentioned enough and hopefully you will benefit from what we’re gonna talk about today.
So the first thing I wanna talk about is building a buffer. So the way that I do this channel here is largely the videos go out on a Tuesday now. So it’s about 10:00 PM for me, which is what I think. I think it’s about 10:00 PM US time. And I’ve got into a bad habit. And basically what I do is I put the videos out on the same day.
So I film them. I edit them and obviously that’s very stressful, but this is because this has always been a. More of a documentary of what I’m doing. So it always made sense to have it up to date. But one of the things that I wish that I could do, which I’ve been trying to do in the last month, is to build up a bit of a buffer so that it’s not too much pressure.
Now, this has really come to bite me in the behind, in the last couple weeks because recently, I’ve had a death in the family . What’s happening right now. My grandfather died about a couple weeks ago and obviously I can’t make it back to the UK with current situations.
And then we had my wife and I. We’ve had a few sort of checkups at the hospital and a few things that we need to take care of. So I’ve got a few issues that I need to look into to fix. She’s got a few issues as well. They’re not connected, but it just happens that we did it at the same time.
And this is me going an hour across town to the hospital. So in fact, I’ve got a jump on a bus in about an hour and a half. And so I spent the whole day today trying to film a video and I had a few issues with the equipment, with the sound, a few issues. With my computer, which means that because I haven’t left that buffer, because I need to hit that published time, I’ve not been able to do what I wanted to do.
So this really is a lesson, a case in point. Build a buffet, if you’re gonna do YouTube. Really good idea to get ahead of things, because if you’re in this situation where you are every single week, you are rushing to get to that deadline, I think it just, it shows, you may see it in some of my videos, the quality isn’t quite there and you just feel the pressure.
And the thing is real life will always come to bite you in the behind, and you’re gonna have those days. You’re not really in the mood, but you have to do it. That’s something that I wanted to talk about because if nothing else, I think this channel is quite genuine. I don’t really wanna hide too much about the actual process of doing what we’re all trying to do.
And we can’t ignore that real life exists and things aren’t always. The other thing that I’ve found is I really would like to have a dedicated filming space. I find this is something that really helps. So one of the issues I was facing today is really with the audio. Most of my audio equipment is set up for my other YouTube channel with Michael.
The one we do, which is called the I grind. We film that in a completely different space. And in terms of audio, I think it makes a difference. Then when I film here in my apartment, It doesn’t always work out. I basically filmed a video today twice, and I’m just not happy with the results in terms of audio.
But now, because I have to jump on a bus to go to another doctor’s appointment. I’m not able to do the thing I want to do. But I think if you have a dedicated filming space, it’s really gonna make it much, much easier to just jump in front of the camera, do what you want to do. Don’t have to change any of these sorts of settings or anything like that.
And you’re gonna produce much better video content every single time. This is really not the video I was planning to shoot today, but as I. I want to give you a real life documentary of what I’m trying to do here. And this is the highs and today is just one of the lows. Hopefully.
you learn something from this, it’s food for full, and I will see you in the next video, which will be what I plan to film to date, which is a big look into the entire life of this channel, this YouTube channel. I’m gonna be sharing all the numbers. So you guys get an idea of what it’s like to build a channel up to that period, that sort of point of monetization and what it takes to do that.
See you guys there.
